Wednesday March 25, 2020. UPDATE
Hello Art Class - Right now we are only taking photos of interesting lines. Look at the examples in the menu bar "Using Lines in Photographs" If you hover over the Monday 3/23 First Day of Online School page, the "Using Lines in Photographs" will appear to the left. Look over those examples, and let me know if you can't find them. I did not post any new assignments today because I have been waiting for you all to send in your Line assignment. I will be changing all due dates to Fridays. Don't stress about due dates, it should become easy to remember that all assignments will start to be due every Friday. If you have not sent in your Lines photos yet, I will wait until 3pm Friday. Nothing is overdue yet. There have been a few issues that everyone has been having with the assignments, so I'll try to clarify and answer some questions here. First of all, I apologize that I mixed up some of the instructions from what I had told you all on the last day of class Friday 3/13/20. On the handout I gave you (and is on the first photography page on the website) there is the list of 1 - 15 photography lessons. We talked about Rule of Thirds and Depth of Field mainly because those are important photography lessons that I wanted to explain in person to make sure everyone understood those two rules of photography. I had told you all that we would start with number one Rule of Thirds. Later, I realized that I was jumping ahead too fast and we needed to start with some art element basics so we have a good collection of photo subjects with which to apply the Rule of Thirds and Depth of Field later on. If the website is confusing, make sure you go to the menu line bar at the top right and click MORE... and all the pages available will appear. The pages will be named for each day that I post. I am trying to post everyday, but it might not be EVERY day. Just keep checking daily for updates. Most students have figured out the first line assignment from the website and are sending the top 3-5 favorite Line photos. Take as many photos as you want to practice each assignment, but then choose only your top 3-5 to email to me at [email protected]. OR. [email protected] Don't worry about which day (odd or even) you actually had art class, just know that the lessons will be given on Monday/Tuesday and/or on Wednesday/Thursday and they will be due on Fridays. So, if you haven't finished the Line assignment listed for the first day, just get them to me by this Friday. Then I will have the weekend to look over them all. With almost 200 students x average of 10 photos/week = that's 2,000 photos I will have to sort through weekly! That is why I am trying to keep the number of photos you send to only your best 3 - 5 photos. I do prefer that you send the photos via email if possible. If you need to use google docs it's fine, just let me know. I did not add any new assignments yet. I am going to wait until everyone gets a chance to look at the Lines in Photography examples and then send me the line photos. We will be moving into shape and pattern and eventually use the Rule of Thirds and the worksheet, but not yet. By the way, we got a new puppy in the Losness house. The photos of puppy should be showing up on the left on this page. I've been busy trying to get puppy to learn how to "potty outside." He is a 5 month-old Pomeranian and full of wiggly cuteness. We are still searching for the best name; any name suggestions? "See" you tomorrow - Losness |
