Thank you to all Students who emailed their top 3-5 photographs using "Line."
Some students have also already sent photos of geometric and organic shapes and the patterns that are made by repeating art elements, for the
"Using Shape in Photography" assignment. Enjoy the gallery of some of your classmate's photos using Line and Shape below.
Today you should look at "Using Space in Photography" assignment and begin taking photos with interesting negative space.
Your top photos from all of the new assignments given this week will be due this Friday 4/3/20.

Good morning Art students-
Today is Tuesday, March 31, 2020 and this is the update for today. Keep checking back daily for updates, but remember all assignments aren't due until the Friday at the end of each week. Some days I might not post at all, just try to keep up with the assignments for the week.
So far we had the first assignment of emailing your top 3-5 favorite photos from the "Using Lines in Photography" page last week, March 23 -27.
Those Lines photos were due last Friday March 27. If you have not done this first assignment, please look at "Using Lines in Photography" page in the menu above and study the examples there. Try to send your top 3 -5 lines photos to my email address ASAP.
Yesterday I introduced "Using Shape in Photography" and the assignment was to email your top 3 - 5 favorite photos using geometric and organic shapes. They will be due by this Friday 4/3, but you can send them anytime before Friday if you want. See the examples of geometric and organic shapes in photography on the "Using Shape in Photography" page found in the menu above.
Today I will add a page called "Using Space in Photography" and you will also find it in the menu above. After you study the examples. take as many photos using negative space as you can, and then email your top 3 -5 favorite photos using negative space by this Friday 4/3/20. Again, you can send them anytime before Friday if you want, but they aren't officially due until this Friday 4/3/20.
I had a good question from a student regarding using photographs you took in the past to hand-in for the assignments.
This was my reply to the student, and it would be a good reminder to all:
First of all, "Make sure you are reading my daily updates on my website. I want you to understand the assignments and see your world through the new lens of art elements. The way we learn and grow is to take new knowledge and then apply it purposefully to new real life actions. Reviewing photos you took in the past and trying to fit them into the assignment later might have value, but I would rather that you go ahead and do the work of taking new photos with your new eye for art elements in your composition. If you happened to take photos in the past by coincidence that you now see will fit in our art elements guidelines, you can share them with me just out of interest but not to satisfy the assignment. True artists never stop pushing themselves to create. "
