How do I start?
Before we begin with the daily assignments, let's review some basic elements and principles of Art. For each assignment, there will be a category such as point of view, depth of field or perhaps Rule of Thirds. It will be assumed that each photograph should not just be a picture that satisfies the category in the most basic way, but it should be a purposeful composition arranged with visual interest using art elements or principles. For example, in the category of the assignment for "Shadow" it should not just be a basic picture of a shadow with no visual interest, but it should be a photograph as a work of art using interesting and visually stimulating elements such a lines or textures. These should not just pictures that anyone can point-and-shoot and mindlessly satisfy the basic assignment. These should be photographs taken by an artist who considers the line, shape, texture, value, space, form or color with pattern, unity, balance, variety, proportion, emphasis or movement in mind. |
