Welcome Back to Art/Photography Online
Today is Monday, March 30. 2020 Thank you for sending your best photos using line. I will begin to enter grades for your photography assignments this week. Grading will be very basic; if you have emailed 3 - 5 photographs that you took last week using line in photography and demonstrating that you understand the basic art element of lines, you will receive a grade that reflects the creativity, difficulty level and complexity of your composition. Try to take unique photos and begin combining more art elements as we will begin looking at today. If you have not emailed anything to me, then your grade will be "M" for "Missing." Lines in photography begin to form shapes, and we know that there are two types of shapes; geometric (man-made) or organic (from nature). See examples of each below. When we begin looking at groups of shapes that repeat, we see Patterns. Some of these patterns are created by geometric shapes and some are created by organic shapes, and sometimes both types of shapes create pattern. See more examples of these patterns in photography below. When you have taken photographs using shapes and patterns, we will move on to other art elements of space (positive and negative space in photography), texture, value (using light and shadow) and color. Every day I will add another of these art elements and show examples of each. By the end of this week, all of these daily assignments will be due on Friday 4/3/20. See "Using Shape in Photography" under "MORE" in the above MENU bar. |
SHAPEWhen Lines connect and make an enclosure, they create Shapes. There are two types of shape to use in your photography: geometric (or man-man) shapes and organic (or shapes from nature). The assignment is to first take photographs of both types of shapes. When shapes repeat, they create pattern. Your second assignment is to take photos of patterns created by both types of shape: geometric and organic. Due by Friday 4/3/20 will be your top 3-5 photographs with at least one example of geometric shape, organic shape and patterns created by repetition of both types of shapes. During this week of March 31 - April 3 we will be adding the art elements of space, texture, value and color. The due date for all photos will be Friday 4/3.
